Felix VogelJuly 14, 2026
Sumsub released an annual fraud report analyzing over 3 million attempts in the iGaming sector. The data shows a 40% increase in fraud levels over the last two years, reaching 1.53% in Q1 2026.
Suspicious transaction volume in Q1 2026 was 4.5 times higher than the same period last year. The average value of a suspicious transaction also grew, moving from $3,960 to $6,500. Processing fraudulent applications now takes 4.6 times longer than verifying legitimate users.
AI-Driven Fraud Trends
The primary factor behind the growth is the widespread adoption of artificial intelligence by bad actors. Fraudsters are increasingly using deepfakes, synthetic faces, and automated schemes for bonus abuse. Africa recorded the highest fraud rate at 2.54%, followed by Europe at 1.14% and North America at 0.44%. In Europe, deepfakes accounted for 41% of all fraud attempts.
